The Orioles and Giants battled to a stalemate before darkness set in at the end of six. Each team was not without opportinity but great CF play on both sides of the ball with Jason Fox covering the part of the earth that the Ocean does not, Ben Walker with a shoe string catch, and Jeremy Ouelette with a strong throw put a halt to some scoring opportunities. Bob Mondi went deep into the game and had outstanding command (no BBs)with 8K's. Trevor Hult and Keenan Dwyer both had 2b's, and Kyle Capone checked in with an RBI single. The Giants offensive attack was led by Chris Byers with a 2rbi single (a laser), and Ryan Penkala who also had two hits and scored two runs.

The Royals didn't stop playing and mounted a rally in the 5th with darkness closing in fast, they were able to load the bases after two were out. Mother Nature stepped in to end this game early after 5 1/2 innings played, robbing the orioles of their 6th inning opportunity to come from behind and win. Reverting back to the score at the completion of the 5th inning, the Rockies captured the win 4 to 3. This game was a defensive game right from the start with the Orioles making 10 defensive outs and the Rockies pitchers, Ben Seegel, Collin Morrow and Nick Koch combining for 9 stikeouts, it was a very evenly matched game. With the score indicating a 2 to 1 lead for the Orioles in the top of the 5th inning, Nick Koch took it deep over the center field fence for a 3 run homer, giving the Rockies a 4 to 2 lead. This was Nick's very first home run of his career. The Orioles bounced back by scoring 1 run in the bottom of the 5th but it was not enough as the final score would stand 4 to 3. Also with hits for the Rockies were Alec Marshall, Ben Seegel, Zach Anzel, Matt Lawyer and Peter Tansey combining for 9 hits total. The Orioles offense was led by Keenan Dwyer with 2 singles.

The A's bounced back, with Cam Cox leading the offense with two solid hits. Cory Lukawitz drove a double to center to score an additional run. Joe Thurston made a nice catch in right for the Giants, and Lukawitz made all the plays at third for the A's. The A's catchers, Chad Olivieri and Patrick McDonnell both threw out runners attempting to steal. In one of the more interesting plays of the game, Ryan Penkala somehow beat out a routine grounder directly to the first baseman. Olivieri pitched four for the A's and McDonnell went the final two. Robert Mondi went the distance for the Giants.

In the second game of the day for both teams, the Phillies emerged on top 10-9 in a slugfest. The Rockies were shorthanded, fielding only 9 players, thus eliminating the extra hitter rule. Christian Sullivan was a little shaky on the mound allowing 3 runs on 5 hits over 2 innings, and it could have been more had it not been for a scary 3rd out in the 2nd inning. Gage Donaghue made a stop on a grounder by Zach Anzel, and raced to tsg the bag, only to collide with Zach at the bag. He held on to the ball for the out but remained on the ground for quite some time. Fortunately noone was seriously hurt and play resumed. Kyle Landry pitched well in his 2 innings, but the Phillies committed 3 errors in the 4th allowing 3 unearned runs to tie the game at 6-6 at that time. They came back with 4 in the bottom of the 5th to take a 10-6 lead. Enter Zach Cunningham to close the game. Not so fast! He had a good 5th retiring the side in order, but 2 errors, and a wrong decision on a ground ball led to 3 runs. He assisted on the last 2 outs of the game to preserve the win. He said he was nervous. He wasn't the only one. Offensively for the Rockies were Alec Marshal 2 hits 2 runs scored, Ben Seegal,2 hits 3 runs scored, Nick Koch 2 hits 2 runs scored, and Luke anzel 1 hit. For the Phillies, Chris Fisher continues to hit and play well defensively,1 hit, 2 runs scored, and threw out Luke Anzel from his knees, Arya Saliany 2 more hits and 1 run scored in this one, Cristian Sullivan, 1 hit,1 run scored, Zach Cunningham, 1 hit 1 run scored, Steve Donfro beat out a 2 out bunt. He hit the first pitch over the right field fence for a 3 run homer, his first homerun of the year. When the inning was over the Royals had a 5-1 lead. How exciting was this one! It came down to the wire where "Zachlebon" Cunningham proceeded to load the bases with noone out, in the top of the sixth inning; then calmly recorded the next 3 outs in order to save the game. This game had everything from an inside the park home run by Kyle Landry in the 2nd inning to drive in the eventual game winning run, to a missed hit batsman by the umpire where the player could not return to the field because of a swollen thumb, a player getting hit unintentionly in the back. He could not field his position because he couldn't lift his shoulder to stretch for the ball,a succesful steal of home plate, once again by Kyle Landry,a successful pickle play executed by the A's who also threw out a runner at home. There's more; In the 5th inning the A's had 2 fielders choices in a row where the Phillies got the lead runner. Then there were a couple of huge errors that allowed 2 runs to score for the A's. Chad Olivieri had a shaky start allowing 3 runs on 4 hits in the first inning, then settled down to pitdh through the 4th inning. He walked 2 and struck out 6. All 6 were called third strikes.GRRRR!!! Patrick Mcdonnell came in to pitch the 6th inning and pitched well, allowing 1 run on no hits. There were 2 errors in that inning but they didn't cause any runs to score. The Phillies once again trying to save thier pitchers eligibility (the rest rule)for Saturday's game, stuck with Kyle Landry Christian Sullivan and "Zachllebon"Cunningham to close it out.

On a beautiful Memorial Day weekend Saturday morning, the Rockies and the Royals squared off at Dube Field. Josh Goulet took the hill for the Royals and pitched 1-hit ball over three innings. He got run support starting in the bottom of the first inning with singles by Ryan Szeygielski, Parthiv Patel, and Owen Amigo. Those singles pushed 2 runs across the plate for a lead the Royals would never relinquish. The Royals scored 5 more times in the bottom of the 2nd. Jonathan Mercurio started the inning with a walk followed by a sharp single to left by Jaime Negron. Alex Amigo, who was called up from the Minors Blue Jays, roped another single to center scoring Mercurio. Parthiv Patel added another single to the mix scoring both Negron and Amigo. The Royals scored 2 more when Patel and Goulet crossed the plate. It looked liked a runaway but the game was far from over. The Rockies came roaring back with 3 runs of their own in the top half of the 4th. A lead off single by Alec Marshall followed by double off the bat of Nick Koch and a walk by Luke Anzel led to the Rockies closing the gap to just 4 runs. In a rematch from their Memorial Day weekend game, the Rockies sought to avenge their loss to the Royals. Stevie Signorello took the mound for the Royals and would try to have a repeat of the first game. It started that way with Signorello getting the first two Rockies batters but then the Rockies exploded for 5 runs in the top half of the 1st, sending 10 batters to the plate. The Royals tired to claw back in the bottom half of the 1st and managed just 1 run off of singles by the Amigo brothers, Alex and Owen, who pushed Parthiv Patel across the plate after Patel had reached on a fielder’s choice. Signorello settled down shut down the Rockies in the 2nd keeping the score 5-1. That would be the last time the Rockies had the lead. The Royals exploded for 5 runs in the 2nd. Singles by Jonathan Mercurio, Jaime Negron, Josh Goulet and Stevie Signorello led the way. Owen Amigo was then handed the ball to keep the lead. He did just that by striking out the side. In the 3rd, the Royals pushed 6 more runs across home plate led by Josh Goulet’s double and Alex Parrot’s single. The Rockies never say die attitude, led to 2 more runs in the top half of the 4th. The blow that sealed the deal was Josh Goulet’s Grand Slam homerun in the bottom of the 5th. His round trip dinger, which was blasted into left center and off the roof of the equipment shed, pushed Negron, A. Amigo, and Patel across the plate.
